WASHINGTON (AP) - Police say they’ve arrested a man in connection with a fatal stabbing in southeast Washington.

Police say they were called Saturday around 2:15 a.m. to the 2500 block of Pomeroy Road in southeast for a report of a stabbing. Police who arrived on scene found a 26-year-old woman suffering from a stab wound. The woman, identified by police as India Chapple of southeast, was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say they arrested 30-year-old Tracy Mathis of southeast on Saturday morning and charged him with second degree murder while armed. Mathis did not appear to have a listed telephone number.
