CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - New students at Southern Illinois University won’t be paying more for tuition this fall.
WSIU Radio (https://bit.ly/QrXVMH ) reports the university system’s trustees on Thursday opted against raising the tuition by 3 percent for newcomers to the Carbondale campus and 5 percent for those in Edwardsville.
The board’s chairman, Randal Thomas, says there was no traction for boosting tuition costs, especially as the university system takes on a new president at the first of next month.
Trustees will consider proposals for fee increases at their meeting in May.
