TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - A 33-year-old Traverse City man will spend 11 and half years to 19 years in prison for the shooting death of his girlfriend.
WPBN-WTOM reports (https://bit.ly/1labpKY ) Thursday that Robert Caldwell also was sentenced to two years in prison for using a firearm during a felony.
Caldwell pleaded guilty in March to involuntary manslaughter, causing death with a gun while drunk and resisting police.
Monica Anderson was fatally shot in November at an apartment shared with Caldwell and two children.
Caldwell had told police he accidentally shot the 28-year-old Anderson during a suicide attempt.
Authorities have said Caldwell was negligent but didn’t intend to shoot Anderson.
