FLORENCE, Ariz. (AP) - A convicted felon is in custody again after Pinal County authorities reported finding drugs and a handgun in his vehicle.

Sheriff’s officials say 50-year-old Brian Westhoven is being held on suspicion of possession of dangerous drugs and marijuana, possession of drugs for sale, misconduct involving weapons and a weapons offense involving narcotics.

Authorities say the Eloy resident has numerous past felony convictions and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Westhoven was arrested last week in the parking lot of an Arizona City market after someone called 911 about a possible vehicle theft in progress.

Deputies found Westhoven trying to start his Jeep with a screwdriver because the ignition key had broken off.

They say marijuana and methamphetamine was found in the vehicle along with a handgun and $7,000 in cash.
