SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - A South Florida high school student has been charged with attempted murder after authorities say he stabbed another student.
Sunrise police identified the suspect as 18-year-old Kimanie King. The senior at Piper High School was also charged Thursday with possession of a weapon on school grounds. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had an attorney.
The victim - a 16-year-old sophomore from the same school - remains in stable condition in the hospital. Police say he was stabbed multiple times.
A police statement says the attack happened in the school’s gym after the students argued over a basketball game. The weapon was described as a folding pocket knife.
