NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) - A western Pennsylvania woman has been sentenced to five to 10 years in state prison for a crash that killed one police officer and injured another
Twenty-six-year-old Kylee Barletto, was sentenced Wednesday after pleading guilty to second degree manslaughter of a law enforcement officer and aggravated assault against an officer, plus lesser charges.
Authorities allege Barletto was driving erratically in New Castle on May 2 when officers from neighboring Shenango Township tried to help local police pull her over. She instead collided with the township cruiser, killing 60-year-old Officer William McCarthy IV and injuring the driver, Officer Michael Lynch.
Barletto had earlier run a stop sign but fled when a New Castle officer tried to pull her over.
She’ll get credit for 339 days she’s spent in jail.
