SALEM, N.H. (AP) - A new war memorial in Salem N.H., at Town Hall shows a cordoned-off empty wooden chair flanked by the American and POW/MIA flags.
The unoccupied chair is symbolic of the missing veterans. It was dedicated Monday night.
Air Force veteran Robert McGuigan of Manchester tells the Eagle Tribune (https://bit.ly/1jKeldw) the memorial is a fitting tribute to the 92,000 Americans taken prisoner or missing in action since World War I.
The town agreed to create the display in February after McGuigan, a board member for the Rolling Thunder veterans organization, met with selectmen and the town manager.
