HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Police are investigating a shooting at a Huntsville Walmart store that involved an off-duty Morgan County sheriff’s deputy.
AL.com reports (https://bit.ly/1iZoNfg) that the deputy was shopping at the store on South Memorial Parkway when he shot a man in the buttock Tuesday afternoon.
The deputy told police he recognized a suspect with active felony warrants, and confronted him about the matter before a shot was fired. Huntsville police said in a news release the deputy was trying to make an arrest inside the store.
Police said the gunshot wound was not life-threatening, and officers were guarding the wounded man at Huntsville Hospital.
