WILLIAMSON, W.Va. (AP) - Williamson Mayor Darrin McCormick is stepping down at the end of the month.

Media outlets report that McCormick submitted a resignation letter on Monday. He didn’t give a reason.

McCormick’s resignation is effective April 30. City Council appointed Municipal Judge Stephen Johnston Knopp to replace McCormick.

McCormick says in his letter that he hopes to continue supporting the city’s initiatives as a volunteer.
