BUCKLEY, Wash. (AP) - The police chief in the Pierce County town of Buckley, Wash., says a 2-year-old boy being pulled in a little wagon on a trail was hit by a truck and fatally injured Monday afternoon.
KOMO-TV reports (https://is.gd/w1U5e4 ) that Chief Jim Arsanto says the child’s father was pulling him in a wagon on a trail that runs along Highway 410. The father was unhurt.
Arsanto says the truck ran off the road, hit the boy, then continued down the trail until it hit a telephone pole.
The boy was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The 78-year-old pickup driver was treated at another hospital for minor injuries.
Investigators say neither drugs nor alcohol was a factor in the crash.
