TULSA, Okla. (AP) - Tulsa-based energy company Unit Corporation has announced it will contribute $3 million for the city’s newest park planned along the Arkansas River.
The first phase of the park is called “A Gathering Place for Tulsa” and totals about 70 acres.
For its contribution, the company will get naming rights to a planned picnic grove.
Funding for the new park was led by the George Kaiser Family Foundation. The foundation committed $50 million with the purchase of land near River Parks and a midtown pedestrian bridge.
Kaiser is a lifelong Tulsan and one of the wealthiest people in the U.S. He’s chairman of BOK Financial Corp. and a major shareholder in various energy and technology companies.
