PIERRE, S.D. (AP) - The South Dakota Department of Transportation will begin roadwork this week on Highway 37 about a mile north of Mitchell.
Workers will replace the bridge railings and the guardrails on both bridges at mile marker 80. The project is scheduled to begin Thursday and end June 15.
It is part of a $2.1 million effort to rehabilitate the roads in the region.
During construction, there will be one lane for traffic in each direction. Speed limits will also be reduced to 55 miles per hour - 45 if workers are present.
The Dell Rapids-based contractor estimates the full roadwork project to be completed by Oct. 17.
