Michigan’s North Campus to get $6.9M face-lift

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The University of Michigan’s North Campus is in line for a $6.9 million outdoor face-lift.

The Ann Arbor News reports (https://bit.ly/1jHN2R2 ) that the North Campus Grove Project at the Ann Arbor school aims to improve the heart of four-acre swath of outdoor civic space that’s ringed by academic buildings and anchored by the Lurie Bell Tower.

The 800-acre North Campus is located north of its Central Campus. It’s a hub of activity that includes programs such as its College of Engineering.

The project is scheduled to be discussed on Thursday by the school’s Board of Regents. Plans call for a new central plaza, new walkways, integrated seating throughout the area and an informal amphitheater. New trees will be planted and improved lighting will be installed.
