NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a Long Island woman faces vehicular manslaughter and DWI charges after a crash that left her passenger dead.
The crash occurred at 4:15 a.m. Monday at South Conduit Avenue and Brookville Boulevard in Rosedale, Queens.
Police say the woman’s Infiniti allegedly rear-ended a Mercedes driven by an 18-year-old man.
They say the impact caused the Infiniti to flip over. The passenger in that car was pronounced dead at a hospital. She was identified as Kendall Heard, of Freeport, Long Island.
Police charged the driver, Sharlene Numa, of Roosevelt, with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter and DWI. She was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Mercedes also was in stable condition at a hospital.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Numa had a lawyer.
