WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A Fitchburg woman has been sentenced to up to three years in prison for stealing the identity of a retired nurse so she could get a job at a nursing home.
Yahaira Figueroa pleaded guilty Monday and was sentenced in Worcester Superior Court to one to three years in prison, three years’ probation and ordered to pay almost $6,000 in restitution.
Authorities say the 33-year-old Figueroa used the personal information of a retired nurse she had cared for to falsify documents that made it appear she was a licensed practical nurse. She used the documents to land a job at a Fitchburg nursing home in December 2012, but was fired for incompetence after two months.
She was charged with identify fraud, larceny and making a false application for a nursing license.
