HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a quick-thinking neighbor kicked in the door of a burning Huntington Beach house and helped two people inside escape the flames.

The Orange County Register says (https://bit.ly/1qzkoEl ) the fire was reported around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Officials say when firefighters arrived they found the home engulfed in flames and its two residents across the street on a curb. The pair had been helped by a neighbor who saw flames shooting from a second-floor window and ran inside to help.

One of the residents was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Nearly 30 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was knocked down in about 20 minutes.

Officials said “excessive storage” inside the house made firefighting difficult.
