SPARTA, Ky. (AP) - Kentucky State Police are investigating after a northern Kentucky sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a man.

Police told The Kentucky Enquirer (https://cin.ci/1eEbUEV) that Gallatin County deputy Edwin Caldwell responded Saturday evening to a report of an intoxicated man. When he arrived, police say he was approached by 41-year-old Gary Burdine, who threatened him with a gun.

Police said Caldwell then fired at Burdine, who died at the scene.



The shooting remains under investigation.
