DEWITT, Iowa (AP) - Clinton County school officials want to resolve longstanding confusion about the district’s name.
The Clinton Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1gWLzBH) Central Community School District of Clinton County was created in 1961, when DeWitt, Grand Mound, Low Moor and Welton consolidated.
The name prompted confusion through the years, and last week Superintendent Dan Peterson told the Central board the issue arose again at the boys state basketball tournament, when Central was identified as CClinton. That name doesn’t include the district or location.
Board member Jim Irwin suggested changing the name to Central CSD or Central of DeWitt.
Board President Christy Kunz called for a short name “we can all live with.”
Board member Steve Fuglsang says it’s essential to have Central and DeWitt in the name.
The board will resume discussion this week.
