METHUEN, Mass. (AP) - Authorities say one person has died in a Methuen house fire, the second fatal blaze in town this year.

A police officer on patrol spotted flames coming from the Park Street home at about 4 a.m. Monday.

The house was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived.

A body was found in the home when the flames were doused.

Police describe the victim as a woman in her 50s, but no name was immediately released. The fire’s cause remains under investigation.

An elderly couple died in a house fire in town in late February.
