PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police are investigating after a Philadelphia Streets Department vehicle struck and killed 26-year-old man who they say was getting out of his rental truck on Interstate 76.

Police say the Saturday night accident happened just after 10 p.m. on the Schuylkill Expressway.

The man and his girlfriend were traveling westbound in two separate vehicles when the girlfriend pulled over after her car became disabled.

He stopped, got out and had started walking to her vehicle when he was struck.

Police say the city driver stopped at the scene. They haven’t revealed the victim’s identity.
