CLOUDCROFT, N.M. (AP) - Firefighters have made some progress in controlling a fire that has burned nearly 100 acres in southern New Mexico.

Lincoln National Forest officials say crews had 20 percent containment on the 96-acre wildfire as of Sunday morning.

Officials say the fire appears to be human-caused but are still investigating.

They say no structures are threatened but Sunspot Observatory is about 3 miles west.

The blaze has charred national and state forest land.

Nearly 120 firefighters along with four Hotshot hand-tool crews and ground vehicles have been battling the fire.

Dog Canyon Trail and West Side Road remain closed.
