LEBANON, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities have identified the pilot who was killed when his ultralight aircraft crashed in Wilson County.
According to WTVF-TV in Nashville (https://bit.ly/1oZUVqx), officials with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office say the pilot was 61-year-old David S. Carter of Nashville.
The small plane went down Saturday morning in a field near Edwards Road in Lebanon. No one else was onboard.
Will Clegg, 10, told the television station that he and a friend were playing in a nearby field when the plane crashed. Clegg said he tried to help Carter, who was underneath the plane.
“We just saw somebody laying there not moving and I checked his pulse and he didn’t move,” he said.
A spokeswoman with the Federal Aviation Administration says officials were working to confirm the size and type of the aircraft, in order to determine whether they would investigate.
