EDINBURG, Texas (AP) - Four people have been arrested in South Texas after an Edinburg police officer was shot multiple times while responding to a disturbance call that turned out to be a home invasion.
Police spokesman Lt. Oscar Trevino tells The Monitor in McAllen (https://bit.ly/1lZLYez ) that after the officer knocked on the door late Thursday night, a person opened the door and immediately opened fire on him. Police Chief Rolando Castaneda said the officer, who has not been named, was released from the hospital Friday.
Since the shooting, four people have been arrested during a day-and-half-long manhunt. They are expected to be formally charged Monday.
Trevino says there may be further arrests as investigators interrogate the four people in custody.
