DANIA BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Women are invited to learn more about sport fishing at a free seminar in Dania Beach.

The “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” event started on Friday and runs until Sunday. It’s at the I.T. Parker Community Center.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sponsored the event in conjunction with the Sport Fish Restoration Program. A commission statement says the seminar is part of a national effort to attract more women to sport fishing and promote conservation and responsible angling.

During the three-day event, wildlife officials will demonstrate safe hook removal, release techniques, fish venting and more. Local fishing guides will give instruction on fishing techniques.

Other upcoming “Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing!” events are scheduled for mid-May in Stuart and mid-November in the Florida Keys. For more information visit ladiesletsgofishing.com.
