WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Winston-Salem have made an arrest in a hit-and-run accident in which the victim was dragged more than two miles beneath a sports utility vehicle.

Winston-Salem police say that 44-year-old John Otis Hill was walking when he was struck on Wednesday night. He was found beneath a vehicle about 2-and-a-half miles away and later died at a hospital.

Police on Friday arrested 24-year-old Viola Demitria Spencer. She is in jail and charged with destroying, altering, concealing or tampering with evidence.



It was not immediately known if she had an attorney.
