ATLANTA (AP) - Atlanta’s public transit system is looking for new police officers.

The Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, or MARTA, says it plans to hire and train 50 officers. A career fair is scheduled for Saturday, from 9 a.m. to noon at MARTA headquarters.

The agency says it is looking for team-oriented, customer-focused candidates for the job.



MARTA will hold onsite interviews during the career fair. Applicants are asked to bring a high school diploma, any college degrees or transcripts, a birth certificate, Social Security card, driver’s license, a military discharge form if applicable and a seven-year motor vehicle report.

Candidates must be at least 21 and will be required to pass a background check, a physical examination and psychological testing. The starting salary range is $35,600 to $40,040.
