BOX ELDER, S.D. (AP) - The Pennington County Sheriff’s Office says a firearm found by a Box Elder resident may be related to a shooting incident at a mobile home park in the city last month.
A statement from the sheriff’s office on Friday thanked the public for helping locate the gun that’s believed to have been used in the March 25 shooting.
The sheriff’s office says 36-year-old Shawn Mousseau and his 35-year-old wife, Michaela, became involved in a confrontation with a guest at their home last month, and Shawn Mousseau allegedly fired several shots at 57-year-old Leonard Maralez.
Authorities say Maralez was not hurt but two bullets pierced a neighboring mobile home and nearly struck a 13-year-old inside.
Authorities say the investigation in ongoing.
