POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - A 63-year-old woman has been indicted on charges including vehicular manslaughter in the deaths of two Bard College students.
The Poughkeepsie Journal reports (https://pojonews.co/1ngNC99 ) that a grand jury in Dutchess County has indicted Carol Boeck of Red Hook on 17 counts.
District Attorney William Grady said in a news release Friday that Boeck was reckless when she got behind the wheel with a blood alcohol count three times the legal limit.
Prosecutors say three students were walking on Route 9G in the village of Tivoli on Jan. 31 when they were struck by a Jeep Wrangler driven by Boeck. The accident killed 20-year-old Evelina Martin Brown of Seattle and 19-year-old Sarah McCausland of Winnetka, Ill. The third student survived.
The Journal says Boeck’s attorney did not respond to messages Friday.
