COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) - Two western Iowa men have been sentenced to federal prison for failing to register as sex offenders.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa says 37-year-old Jeramie Reazer, of Council Bluffs, was sentenced Friday to 21 months in prison. Reazer had been convicted of third-degree sexual assault in Omaha, Neb., in 2005. Prosecutors say he moved to Mills County, Iowa, last May, but failed to timely register.

Also, 29-year-old Sergio Maldonado-Butler, of Avoca, was sentenced to a year. Prosecutors say he was convicted in Oregon of rape in 2005 and had not registered as a sex offender, as required, when he moved to Iowa.
