GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) - Grand Forks police say they do not believe that an incident in which a man took a van with a 5-year-old girl inside was a random act.

KNOX radio reports (https://bit.ly/Q8MUj4 ) that authorities describe the man as a “prior domestic partner of the victim.” The man is considered a person of interest in the case. He hasn’t been identified.

Police were notified mid-day Wednesday that the van had been taken from a grocery store parking lot. Authorities found the vehicle a short time later, and the girl was found nearby physically unharmed.

The incident prompted a 40-minute lockdown at three nearby schools.
