LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Supporters of agriculture are trying to encourage more people to consider teaching the subject in Nebraska.
The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation said Thursday that it wants to offer a new scholarship for teachers interested in agriculture and help pay student loans of new agriculture teachers.
Foundation president Steve Nelson says many Nebraska school districts would like to expand agriculture programs but can’t find enough teachers.
The foundation plans to offer a $1,200 scholarship for people are doing their student teaching. And a loan assistance program would help teachers in their first five years in the classroom.
