SAN DIEGO (AP) - A woman who strangled her baby, then threw him out of a San Diego apartment window, has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
Zewoinesh Badasso was sentenced Friday for first-degree murder and child abuse.
Jurors ruled she was sane when she killed her 7-month-old son, David, in 2012.
Passersby found the boy’s in an alley below a third-story apartment in the Normal Heights neighborhood. Badasso told police she accidentally dropped the boy while trying to open the window.
But an autopsy showed he’d been shaken and strangled.
Authorities say before the killing, Badasso told a therapist that she had anger issues.
Her attorney, Amy McDonald, told jurors that Badasso suffered from major depression and was in a dissociated state the day of the killing.
