INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Police say a 12-year-old girl was wounded by gunfire as she slept inside in her family’s Indianapolis apartment.

Neighbors say two gunmen approached the apartment building on the city’s northwest side and started shooting early Friday. Authorities say the girl was wounded in the arm and taken to Riley Hospital for Children to be treated.

Neighbor Tauhidah Dullen tells WTHR-TV (https://bit.ly/1gRWIDU ) that she was sleeping when she heard the gunfire. A door and window of her apartment were bit by bullets, but no one among her family was hurt.

Investigators marked more than a dozen shell casings at the scene, but no arrests were immediately made.
