EL PASO, Texas (AP) - A Fort Bliss solider has been arraigned on capital murder charges for the death of his 11-month-old son.

Pfc. Adam Keith Jackson has pleaded not guilty to the February slaying. He’s been jailed on $250,000 bond.

El Paso County prosecutors have not said whether they’ll seek the death penalty against the 22-year-old Jackson.

An investigation began after unconscious Aiden Jackson in early February was taken to a hospital where doctors found he had head and neck injuries. The El Paso Times reports (https://bit.ly/1iB2LxL ) an autopsy showed he had a fractured skull among his injuries.

A police affidavit says Jackson told officers he dropped the child. He was caring for the baby at an apartment outside the Army post while the child’s mother was running errands.
