CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago Transit Authority Blue Line train has derailed on the city’s West Side, disrupting service to the western suburbs.
CTA spokesman Brian Steele says the train struck a tire on the tracks as it left the Cicero St. station Thursday evening. The impact caused the first set of wheels on front car to leave the tracks. There were no reports of injuries.
Steele says shuttle buses are transporting riders between the Pulaski and Oak Park stations. Northbound service is not affected by the derailment.
CTA officials say they don’t know how long service will be disrupted by the derailment, which they call a minor incident.
