JENKINSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Electric & Gas is testing its emergency siren system at its nuclear power plant in Fairfield County.
Around 1 p.m. Tuesday, the utility will sound the warning system around the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station.
The tests are done each quarter at the Jenkinsville plant. SCE&G says it will test the 106 sirens within a 10-mile radius around the plant.
During a real emergency, SCE&G says the sirens would go off without advance warning and alert people in the area to tune into to radio or television stations for more information and instructions.
