MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - A New Hampshire man has been sentenced to 10 to 28 years in prison for a police chase in which he rammed a police cruiser and was shot in the leg.

Prosecutors said in June, 37-year-old Christopher Varagianis of Pembroke was found passed out in a vehicle. When police arrived to check him out, he led them on a chase through Manchester that ended with a shootout.

WMUR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1pEND8l) Assistant Hillsborough County Attorney Jennifer Sandoval said he ignored several requests by police to stop.

Defense attorney Dorothy Graham said Varagianis has accepted responsibility for his actions, but he was addicted to drugs at the time.

Varagianis was also ordered to reimburse the city of Manchester $5,000 for the cruiser.
