PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Portland police launch a new unit Tuesday to focus on what police call low-level crimes along the downtown waterfront: public drunkenness, minor drug deals, public urination and harassment.
KOIN reports (https://bit.ly/QCiGG4 ) officers will patrol on foot, bike, patrol cars, and even all-terrain vehicles.
Central Precinct Commander Bob Day says the new focus on misdemeanor crimes won’t take resources away from more-serious crimes.
