KENTWOOD, La. (AP) - Louisiana State Police say a 59-year-old Mississippi man died after his car ran off the side of Interstate 55, struck an embankment and overturned several times before stopping in a water-filled creek.

Master Trooper Greg Marchand says Bobby E. Ross, of McComb, Miss., was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday night by the Tangipahoa Parish Coroner’s Office.

Troopers suspect Ross was speeding north near the Louisiana-Mississippi border when the accident happened.

The crash remains under investigation.
