SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - Sparks police have arrested a suspect in the beating and sexual assault of a homeless woman that he had offered to take in at his home.

Police say 43-year-old Randy Flores Jr. contacted the woman at a homeless shelter last week and offered her a shower, food and a warm place to stay.

But police say once he persuaded her to go to his home on Hymer Avenue, he beat her, hit her with a frying pan, strangled her, taped her mouth shut with duct tape and sexually assaulted her.

Police found her Friday on a city bus and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Flores has been booked on suspicion of sexual assault, kidnapping, battery causing substantial bodily harm and strangulation.
