SAN DIEGO (AP) - One person was hospitalized and a dog died in a fire in San Diego.
U-T San Diego reports (https://bit.ly/1okIvJw ) the Monday night blaze was in a two-story building on Ninth Avenue and Broadway. San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman Lee Swanson says the fire started in an apartment on the second floor and spread to another unit.
About 65 to 70 firefighters battled the two-alarm blaze, U-T San Diego reports. Most of the fire was out in 45 minutes.
One person was taken to a hospital for smoke inhalation, Swanson says. About 20 people were displaced, and the Red Cross was called to help. A Chihuahua died, but a cat was saved, he says.
The cause is under investigation. A damage estimate wasn’t immediately available.
