Parking space too tight? Ford technology parks cars with driver outside vehicle

Have you ever had to pass up a parking space because the fit was so tight it would trap you inside the vehicle? New technology by Ford Motor Co. that was recently unveiled in Belgium makes that problem a thing of the past.

Some Ford vehicles already offer technology that allows drivers to parallel park while inside a car, but its new Full Assisted Parking Aid technology would allow owners to back into incredibly tight parking spaces. Vehicles that possess the new technology would even be able to scan for parking space while moving at up to 19 mph, according to technology website Extreme Tech.

“The car would automatically switch gears, accelerate, steer, and brake. The driver’s function is to keep his or her finger on the button during the maneuver,” Extreme Tech reports.
