A one-year-old boy was killed and partly eaten by a giant rat at his house in Western Yemen, leading to a hunt for the killer rodent.
The boy was napping in a clay hut in al-Hadith district at the time of the attack. His mother stepped out for a minute, and she returned to the horrific sight of the rat gnawing on her screaming baby, Yemen Press agency reported.
She rushed the boy to a nearby medical center, but it was too late. He died in transit.
“The mother is still in a bad psychological condition after seeing the giant rat feeding on her own baby,” the agency said without giving other details, Emirates 24/7 reported.
Villagers are currently hunting for the rat, setting up traps where they think it will likely feed again.
