An Amtrak train struck and killed a pedestrian in Mebane, N.C., on Sunday morning, officials said.
The train was headed from Charlotte, N.C., to New York, officials said, when it hit a pedestrian on the tracks at around 9:20 a.m. EST, The Associated Press reported.
The victim’s identity has not been released. No other injuries were reported.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. It did not release additional information, WRAL reported.
According to Amtrak’s website, the train arrived in Raleigh about 3½ hours late.
