The son of a disgraced former aide to President George W. Bush was due in court Tuesday in Montgomery County on a murder charge.
Claude Alexander Allen III, of Gaithersburg, was charged Friday with fatally attacking a man with a hatchet. He’s scheduled to appear in District Court.
Police said he called 911 to say that he had killed a man who had tried to break into his home. But police say officers determined that there wasn’t a break-in attempt and that Mr. Allen and the victim knew each other.
A lawyer who represented Mr. Allen in a prior drug case has declined comment. Online court records don’t list his current attorney.
Mr. Allen’s father, also named Claude Allen, is a former Bush adviser who pleaded guilty to theft in 2006.
