It should be apparent to most critically thinking Americans that our current president does not have an interest in being commander in chief. His preference to campaign rather than lead was painfully obvious during the Benghazi, Libya, debacle. Even the pundits on the left recognize this characteristic of our president, which is either a reflection of his incompetence when it comes to leadership or a conscious effort to choose only those activities that fit his agenda.

It may be a combination of both, but the end result is that his arbitrary and noncommittal actions continue to put Americans in danger and America at great risk. A president’s first priority must be to preserve and protect the people from our enemies, both foreign and domestic, as every president takes an oath to do. The fact that President Obama has been absent on several occasions when it comes to upholding this oath of the highest office in the land demands serious scrutiny by its people.

The time is long overdue for the president to become a truly transparent leader and an effective decision maker, and to recommit to the oath he has made to America twice. Maybe then the faith and trust of the American people can begin to be restored in our government.
