Michigan police are investigating an incident where a 6th-grade girl brought $20,000 in cash to school with her in a backpack.
The police department in Taylor, Mich., was alerted Monday after the 12-year-old girl was allegedly handing out $100 bills to her classmates at the Sixth Grade Academy Building. Authorities confiscated the backpack, saying it contained up to $20,000.
Police said the girl told them she got it from a friend who lives across the street from her.
Authorities are holding onto the money until someone comes forward to claim it and explain where it came from.
