A funeral service for “The Sopranos” star James Gandolfini will be held Thursday morning at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City, HBO announced.
The 51-year-old actor died unexpectedly on Wednesday in Rome of a heart attack.
Mr. Gandolfini had been headed to Sicily to appear at the Taormina Film Festival, which paid tribute to him Saturday, the Associated Press reported.
The actor’s body was flown into Newark Airport Sunday night.
The New Jersey native won three Emmys for his role as mobster Tony Soprano from 1999 to 2007. His film credits included “Zero Dark Thirty” and “Killing Them Softly,” and he hit Broadway in “God of Carnage,” CBS News reported.
