A Texas dad took on three home intruders Sunday afternoon, fatally shooting two of them as the other fled for his life.
The men broke into Javier Ortiz’s home in an Houston neighborhood, demanding money and showing a gun.
“They said ’the money, the money,’” Ortiz’s wife, Lila Pena, told KPRC-TV.
Ms. Pena told the station that her children witnessed the terrifying encounter, including her oldest child, 7-year-old Fernando Ortiz.
“My dad took the gun out, then he shot the two,” Fernando said. “He’s a great hero.”
Houston police are still searching for the third suspect.

“There was a third suspect that fled the scene. We have very limited information on that person,” said Ivan Ulloa of the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division.
Police believe Mr. Ortiz shot the men in self-defense, but the case will be sent to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for review, KPRC-TV reported.
