A Georgia teacher has been suspended for pretending to shoot first-graders in a game made to represent a school shooting.
Mariano Pacetti was substitute-teaching a first-grade physical education class at the Odyssey School in Newnan. He was playing a kind of hide-and-seek game with the students in which he encouraged them to hide while he pretended to be a gunman, My Fox Atlanta reports.
“There are things that you can and can’t do, and it shows, if nothing else, that you just can’t do security off the cuff. You have to train and prepare for it,” Odyssey School Executive Director Andy Geeter said, according to My Fox.
Mr. Geeter added that the teacher is one of the most popular in the school.
“We have a teacher who is the first person to volunteer for things. He would be the first person to protect kids in a crises, who made a bad decision,” he said.
